Music Lyrics
Some of the most popular music teens listen to today is about drug use or other risky behaviors. Here’s where you can check out music lyrics that are streaming into teens’ headphones. Which songs/artists does your teen listen to, and have you talked to them about what the lyrics mean?

Video Games
Have a look at some of today’s video games, then find out if your teen is familiar with or plays them. Have you noticed any violence, drug or alcohol references, and do you feel the games are age-appropriate? Do you know the rating system? Check it out here.

Social Networking
Visit social networking sites like Facebook. Browse the profiles of teens your child’s age to see what they say, what their interests are, and what they are doing online. Talk with your teen about what you have learned.

A new take on “Under the Influence”

Hear what Eden Prairie students report about drinking and drug use, and the important influence of parents: Tuesday, March 6, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., at the EPHS Performing Arts Center.
Whether you parent a kindergardener or high schooler, you may have questions on how to support your child in making good decisions and help guide them away from risky behaviors.

Learn about what Eden Prairie’s 6th, 9th and 12th graders report in our Minnesota Student Survey regarding decisions around alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. School staff and community representatives will then share the important role parents play and what you can do to influence decisions from elementary through high school years.

Bring your questions and a friend! Free, no registration required.
